The Harrodsburg Community Church was founded as a
distinct fellowship in 1978. It grew out of a women’s
prayer group which had been meeting in homes for some
time prior to this. The prayer group was interdenominational
in nature, with many churches in the area represented
in the group. This group was seeking a more intimate
and caring fellowship, and cherished the opportunities
to come together for times of sharing from the Bible,
sharing testimonies and worship with greater freedom.
Experiencing in the home prayer group an intimate,
caring fellowship with dynamic teaching and worship,
the group decided to form an interdenominational community
church in which believers from all church traditions
would be welcome on the confession of faith in Christ
Jesus and a desire to be His disciple, embracing the
whole body of Christ, the church.
Since 1978, the Harrodsburg Community Church has grown
into a more established congregation. In 1986, a building
was completed that currently houses the church, as well
as several classes for the local Christian School. In
1994, a second building was constructed to be used by
the church and Central Kentucky Christian School. The
addition of this 7,000 square foot building has been
a wonderful blessing to both the church and the school.
Harrodsburg Community Church holds strongly to the
unity of all believers in Jesus Christ, and therefore
seeks to work together with them in the building of the
Kingdom. The church seeks to work with other fellowships
within the area to advance the cause of Christ in the
local community.
As we seek to clearly define our purpose and mission
as an individual congregation, we have seen the need
to provide the hope of Jesus Christ to our community
in just the way God has best equipped us.
Harrodsburg Community Church, therefore, has developed
this mission statement, “Our
mission is to minister God’s healing grace, enabling
every person to be all that God created them to be.”
The mission is built upon Jesus’ anointing when
He said, “the Spirit of the Lord is
upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel
to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering
of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are
bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”

4:18-19)
